My lawyer has applied our AP renewal on April 2nd. And we got receipt notice on April 17th with a notice date of April 14th. We need to travel on June 9th. I was wondering how long it is taking to get AP these days.

Anyone who stayed more than 183 days in 2008 here in US, must declare all their accounts in home country or any other country, if at any time, the cumulative value in those accounts exceeded $10,000. IRS extended the declaration deadline to September 23, 2009.
I came to know about this today only and I am planning to submit this as soon as possible. Please follow the following links to educate yourself.

If the person does not have any income in India after getting the NRI status, s/he still needs to file "NIL" return. How many NRI should be following that? We all know that answer.. This is definitely a way of highlighting the long wait times for the Legal Immigrants, and this seems to be the only Immigration related bill getting promoted at this time.

Hi.. i need help on this..
If i get the tests done and get a sealed I-693 and tell the doctor that i will attach proof for some vaccinations before filing to my application does that invalidate your I-693?
In other words do i absolutely have to have all vaccination proof before going to the doctor or i can furnish it later as well as a seperate proof along with sealed envelope?

Wait, if the I-485 is filed why would it take 5 years like you stated? It should take 1 or 2, explain?
You didn't read my post clearly. This happiness is only good for couple of months and it will be back to retrogression again especially for India & China as stated by alterego at above post. By that time, it will take longer time to get for GC as it is now because there will be tons of pending I-485 with only limited visa number.

You might be true on the speculation part. You can have a deaf ear for the contribution requests. If you can contribute go ahead and contribute. Consider it as if you went to a happy hr. Why bring that back to point fingers?This is not a for profit company right. How about doing something like joining the state chapter, get more people into the state chapter, meet your law maker and explain him whats happening with the EB system? Care to do that? Forget about LD session which doesnt promise any thing. No body knows whats going to happen for sure. Me, you, IV core, Immigration lawyers can make educated guesses.

I spoke over the phone with an IO few days back and came to know that my namecheck is pending. He said it can happen tomorrow or months later. PD is Aug.2005. I guess I should not expect to catch the current green bus.
I spoke to rep at NSC today he said my case is clear and just waiting to be adjuducate based on RD..but when i asked him about the name check he said he do not have an access to that however he again said the nothing is holding up my case just a matter of RD...so what can i interpret based on this is my Name check has been cleared or not?:confused:

By fair trade, I meant service oriented countries like India rely on exporting services (software, cust support, legal etc) and such people movement fees creates trade barrier.
I also see folks are beating up on Infosys for treatment of their employees. Many of you would be forgetting the choices you had as job seeker before these companies came around. IT companies are one of the reasons for rise of middle class in India
We really had no choices....as if there were no options other than pay some body shopper.
Infy in not responsible to Rise of middle clas its just an intrument in it....It's the Large Population base, Easy Access to decent education for large pool of public in hand with the II revolution in USA in mid-late 1970s (when the only people who came were from the best Institutes of India--Infy was still not there)I dont have anything against INY I am proud of it....but they don't care for there consultants....all policies are designed to deny employees the facilities they should get. It's the talent pool of INdia thats made companies like INFY , WIPRO, TCS not the other way around.....It's time employees get their dues

Yes, after filing 485, they will send the biometric appt ASAP in a month or two. So, it is better to be here in US for atlease 3 months to complete all these things.
Sorry for this pestering attitude :) but I have to be in India in the last week of August only for a week - so what would be a good time to file for 485 to make sure my travel is smooth?

Please don't get me wrong. I truely appreciate all the efforts of the core team. My intention in saying what I did was to put the info in a truthful manner as I saw it. And let me the first to say that even if the current senate and house is not able to adress our concerns before its term expires...just by having them pass incomplete bills with our provisions sets a very good precedent for the New congress after Nov elections.

I am applying for myself and spouse.I have prepared one check each of amount $745 = ($395+$180+$170) for myself and my wife for our I485 + I765 + I131 applications (ie 2 cheques of $745 each)
Is there any problem with? Do we need 3 seperate checks(6 in total) for each application I485 + I765 + I131?
Cheques are payable to USCIS. I read in another thread that it should be payble to department of homeland security. I am confused. Which is correct???
Please advice ASAP.
It is recommended to have a separate check for each application and each applicant for the real worst case scenario where god forbid if there is an unanticipated problem with the I-765 or I-131 application then USCIS have an option to atleast process the I-485 application. Also tracking individual checks cashed helps indicate that respective applications are indeed "work at Progress" at USCIS, if there is a delay in processing individual forms. This is just my understanding.
Regarding Checks "payable to" refer the answers posted on other threads.

what I think (logical common sense) is anyone who applies LC/I-140/I-485 before OCt 1, 2008 (or the date on whcih new system begins) will fall in the old system otherwise i am not sure what will one do between this time frame (may 21st, 2007 - Oct 1, 2008). Can't afford to just sit there doing nothing. Or I am just imagining ????
